How can we all live more OPEN, FREE and “IN THE FLOW” just like the ocean? What can Surfing teach us about life?I’ve been having more and more deep moments of internal reflection in the stillness of the ocean lately and grateful for these “aha” spiritual moments. Surfing‬ is such a great metaphor for life because out in the ocean everything is moving and in flow. Nothing holds still. This is symbolic of the Divine Feminine principle essence of pure energy, light, and all form and manifestation. Its always changing and in flux.

Life is the same way. If you don’t move with it, life just passes you right by. So from surfing you learn a great lesson that you have to move with it, to be in the moment spontaneously and to go with the flow of constant change. When this happens I can adapt and be completely present and open to what shows up as the wave changes moment to moment. This is what I call a state of “no-mind” or “in flow” and I notice it when I am surfing my best. You may have heard others call it “being in the zone”. But heres the thing…I believe this natural flow of life is channelled and expressed THROUGH us, not necessarily entirely BY us. Thats why in this state of being I get such a strong feeling that its not me doing it. Something WAY bigger wants to come through and be seen.

In these moments of no-mind I have no need to CONTROL, COMPARE, JUDGE, STRATEGIZE, or PLAN.

In these moments of no-mind I am MOST EFFICIENT.

This natural creative energy comes to me most gracefully when I can clear myself of judgements and preconceived ideas of how things “should” be that tend to block the magic. I can then SURRENDER and just BE and feel the natural FLOW of life move me. This is the magic of life and the magic of surfing. This is DIVINE FLOW. This is FREEDOM.

Yes we need to hone our skills and practice with will power to refine our art. This is about DOING. And, how can we fine tune our awareness at just the right time to surrender and allow the “wave of life” to ride us? This is about BEING and allowing the energy of life to take us just like a wave. How can we find the balance of both DOING and BEING moment to moment in life? How can we find that “sweet spot” just like the sweet spots for maneuvering on a surfboard?

Surfing can also teach the great lesson of GRATITUDE. Whatever the mood of the ocean, myself, how I am surfing or show up…its all part of the overall experience and that experience is always better received when coming from acceptance.

And to be part of something larger (the ocean) than me and surrender to it is a gift. Call it what you like. I choose to call this surrender an amazing spiritual experience. And this can cultivate an energy of being humble. This is available to ALL of us ALL the time when we can learn to clear ourselves of our preconceived ideas of the way things “should” be and allow DIVINE FLOW to enter us.

It all starts with internal AWARENESS. Peace starts with you my friend. How else can you learn to cultivate peace within yourself? How else can you walk in your daily life with an attitude of gratitude?

When you are truly grateful whatever shows up is always enough.

May we all be able to tap into the attitude of ‪gratitude‬ at will.

Thank You Divine Ocean Mother for all you embody and teach. May we all be open and free enough to let the waves of life ride us with ease and grace.

Infinite Blessings always

Jason

“We are always in a process of becoming and nothing is fixed. Have no rigid system in you, and you’ll be flexible to change with the ever changing. Open yourself and flow, my friend. Flow in the total openness of the living moment. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Moving, be like water. Still, be like a mirror. Respond like an echo.” -Bruce Lee
